Purpose:
To promote and introduce young anglers to the sport of fishing and create an opportunity for parent, relative or volunteer to spend the day with a child.
Preregister:
Adults are encouraged to contact one of the piers of their choice to preregister their young angler.There is no entry fee. Adults must fill out a registration form to reserve space.

To register, contact any of the seven Grand Strand fishing piers listed in the Fishing Rodeo brochure.
Date & Time:
Saturday, October 25, 2008 – fish from 8 a.m. until noon.
Rules:
Adult/child team – anyone 18 yrs. and older may accompany a child (ages 12–18 and 11 yrs. and younger). Adult must stay with the child throughout the tournament.
Divisions:
*Young anglers 6 years and younger; 7–11; youth anglers 12–18 years. State regulations will apply. Recognition for catch and release.
Equipment:
Child/adult team of anglers may bring their own fishing
equipment or the team pier of choice will provide complimentary equipment.
Amenities:
Complimentary food and drinks will be available for participants. Each young angler will receive a gift bag.
Awards:
Awards will be given to the first, second and third place by each pier. An overall award will be chosen from the 24 anglers for the largest single catch (child) and total weight of overall catch (team)
in
both age groups.
Awards Picnic:
All first, second and third place teams (one adult/one child) from each pier, the committee, sponsors and media will be invited to the "Take A Kid Fishing" awards picnic at 2 p.m. at Myrtle Beach State Park. Overall awards for largest single catch and total weight of overall catch will be presented immediately after the picnic.
Seminar:
Grand Strand Saltwater Anglers will host an hour seminar on the basic art of fishing for all interested teams on Friday, October 24, 2008, at 7 p.m. One seminar will be held at Springmaid Beach Conference Center and Apache Pier Activity Room. There is no fee to attend. Reservations required.
*Special needs anglers must register at Myrtle Beach State Park Pier.
