Reunion Planning Services

Anyone that has ever tried to plan a reunion has most likely experienced the frustrating and time consuming ordeal of deciding where to stay, where to eat, and what to do. Planners that are looking to take their reunion to the Grand Strand are fortunate in that they have the services of The Myrtle Beach Area Convention Bureau to assist in the planning and organizing of large military and family reunions.

The bureau offers a lead service, better described as a request for proposals. Through this service your reunion's requests will be supplied to area convention facilities, hotels, attractions, etc. In turn, the properties will either submit bids directly to you or you may receive a compiled bid-book of the area's proposals within 10 to 14 days. "Services are available here to help take the frustration out of planning a reunion. It is literally a one call does it all service," explained reunion specialist Elaine Michaud.

As an extra incentive, the bureau offers services to make your group feel welcome once they arrive. These include a personal welcome from a local official, a media list to secure local publicity for your reunion, name badge preparation, on-site registration assistance, and complimentary welcome bags. Baskets and mugs are also available at a nominal cost.

In order to have your reunion receive these planning services a minimum of 25 rooms a night is required, although the amount of nights required varies among the accommodations providers. "It is best to try to begin your planning process at least one year in advance, especially since many groups plan their trips on weekends during the summertime. If a reunion can plan their Myrtle Beach area trip at the beginning or the end of the summer, or during the spring or fall they will usually have a much wider selection of accommodations" explained Michaud.

For more information on how to bring your reunion to the Myrtle Beach area, contact Elaine Michaud with the Myrtle Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau at (843) 916-7266 or by e-mail.
